Ho do you counter say indian camels now? How do you beat malian camels in imperial age if you're not an archer civ? They're pretty good options for several civs already because of the significant buffs these civs get. Even on mongols, they're sometimes the go to before mangudai against other cav heavy civs.īut imagine you give them an actually significant buff. Sure camels are pretty niche on civs like persians or chinese, but they see use. Reason 2: Most civs that get camels get buffs for them. So basically they offer an extra niche that other units don't effectively fill, although they're not great at it. And they're the only unit that can run down cav archers (well light cav, but camels actually beat cav archers in small numbers and light cav don't). And they do effectively counter knights, its not as cost effective as halberdiers or monks, but they can actually keep up with knights and force fights. They're meant to be a sort of niche extra counter unit. Reason 1, they're an extra unit not available to most factions. There's 2 reasons I believe they should either receive a small buff, or not get one.
